| ya know the feeling ya get when you get into something that you were initially excited about only to find out that you are way over your head...yeah, that is how i feel right now. it is not about anything important or life-changing...i just had the brilliant idea that i would re-finish the dining room table and chairs my grandparents gave me for my new townhome. so i began sanding...and then i sanded some more...about 2-3 hours into sanding with not much work too show for it, i began to question if this was such a good idea. now i have a half sanded table...yet to prime and paint and i am wishing i had just left it alone. ah well...at least i've crossed off re-finishing furniture as a career possibility.
so today begins my month of traveling...i'm excited. we are leaving for dallas in a matter of minutes...it will be fun, relaxing with the family and i get to hang out with denise...my long-lost twin. then home for a few days and off to iowa next week...granted it is not the most interesting place but it will be good to see all of my mom's side of the family. then home for a day off to see new york/boston with julianna...it is going to be amazing. so yeah... this month is going to be crazy but great. i love traveling .
| water fights, cookouts, and fireworks with the people i love...good times...oh, how i love the fourth! | | |
| it is interesting how uncertainty can be completely exciting and completely frightening at the same time...i'm so thankful that i serve a God who is sovereign over all things at all times. life could be very stressful otherwise. | | |
| this has been quite the exciting weekend....
so friday afternoon and night, i went to six flags fiesta texas. it was grand...rode the bumper cars (its so great...a game where you are suppose to hit people), went on many a roller coaster, tried to conquer my fear of heights by riding one of those drop from the sky on a pole things (it didn't work, i still don't like heights), watched a few shows, and many other things. it brought back many childhood memories...not so much, of fiesta texas actually but more of going to theme parks in general.
saturday morning, my family and i went peach and blackberry picking. i think i probably ate more blackberries then i picked though...they were delicious. it made me feel as though i were taking a more active part in the procurement of my food rather than just going to the grocery store and grabbing some peaches from a bin.
tonight there was frozen turkey bowling at the 11th/12th grade bible study i'm helping lead this summer. it was interesting, i actually think i hit down more pins with the frozen turkey then i normally do with an actual bowling ball. the bible study itself is going really great...i love the girls and am so excited to see what God is going to do with everything.
| a few updates....
i have finished my first week of chemistry...it is exciting (only 4 more to go!). i dont think i've looked forward to friday as much as i have this week since highschool...i lived for the weekends then. chemistry really isn't that bad (i almost find a strange enjoyment doing the problems...yes, it's true i am a nerd), it is just the starting at 7am part that gets me. it always amazes me though how many people are on the road at 6:30 in the morning...i think living in norman the past few years has made me ignorant to the real world and that people really do function before 9am since the few times when i had to be at work at 7:30, i was pretty much the only person on the road...or so i thought.
i have a job! i didn't even apply for this one...it was such a God-thing! i work at this real-cute little gift shop. it's great b/c the owner just lets me work when it fits into my schedule and the atmoshpere is fun and laidback.
well i need to go and do some productive things before tonight...julianna and i have determined this summer that we will find and do fun and exciting things in san antonio. we will not succumb to just going to the movies for entertainment...so tonight we are going to go see a play and then this music/art festival thing. it should be fun...
